Dr. Jen Jones

Dr. Jen Jones has had a life long love of animals. She grew up in Hershey, PA and aspired to be a veterinarian from a very young age. She was an avid pony clubber and spent much of her free time during high school and college working in small animal hospitals and at a local thoroughbred racetrack.

Dr. Jen completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Vermont, studying both in Burlington, VT and Christ Church in New Zealand. She graduated Suma Cum Laude with a Bachelor degree in Animal Science. She then moved to Colorado where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Colorado State University’s School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

For six years after graduating, she enjoyed all facets of being an equine veterinarian as an associate at Rhinebeck Equine in Rhinebeck, NY. She started treating dogs and cats after completing training in acupuncture from Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine and chiropractic care. This began her fulfilling transition to small animal practice. She enjoyed a successful house call practice in Hudson Valley, but found she missed the stimulation and collaboration of being part of a larger practice. Since 2006, she has enjoyed a rewarding career working at the Sand Road Animal Hospital. It is here she has been able to offer compassionate care to 4-legged family members in our region while collaborating with a team of very talented doctors and support staff. Her special interests include ultrasonography, dentistry, and dermatology.

Dr. Jen spends her time outside of professional practice with her 2 daughters, 1 Labrador, cats, and bunnies. She enjoys skiing and hiking appreciating the beauty of the Berkshires.
