Dr. Amy Damers

Dr. Amy Damers earned her degree in veterinary medicine at Cornell University in the year 2000.

After graduation she set out to find a job in Connecticut to be near her family and fiancé. While considering five different job offers, she decided on a whim to make the long trip to northwest Connecticut to interview at one last practice, Sand Road Animal Hospital. She describes the experience as a moment of Zen. Sand Road was the embodiment of everything she dreamed a veterinary practice could be: a state-of-the art facility in a beautiful setting, with a team of talented doctors and a dedicated staff committed to bettering the lives of animals. She joined the practice and has never looked back.

Dr. Amy grew up in New York on Long Island and is the youngest of six children. She graduated magna cum laude from Villanova University and did post-graduate study and research at S.U.N.Y. in Stony Brook. She is a strong advocate of preventative medicine and, in addition to cats and dogs, enjoys working with “pocket pets” such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets.
