Meet Our Staff

Cindy Sandefer, RN, MBA
Hospital Administrator

I grew up in rural southeastern Connecticut in a town called Preston (located near Foxwoods Casino). I spent all my free time with my best friend “Missy” a registered quarter horse. I was very involved in 4-H and ballet classes. My dancing efforts lead me a scholarship at Texas Christian University. At the completion of my first year I realized dance was not my calling and returned to New England. Several years later I found myself working at Cornell University for the Dean of Veterinary Students were I met Dr. Dave and let’s just say the rest is history.

In 1987 I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Utica College of Syracuse University. After working for several years in nursing, I decided to join the practice full time. Feeling unprepared to help in the growth and development of a veterinary practice, I returned to school once again. I earned my Masters in Business Administration from the University of Connecticut in 1999.

I enjoy my work at the SRAH very much. It is a great experience working with such a talented mix of doctors and support staff. My role involves strategic planning and analysis. I work towards gathering the resources to fund the needs of today and prepare for the visions of tomorrow. I am intricately involved in such areas as; budgets, cash flow management, pension planning, marketing, and management meetings. The quality of medical care your pet receives and the level of client service we deliver, are the most important things to me. We appreciate the support of our loyal clients. My job is to manage the resources our clients have allowed us to have.

I still have a great passion for quarter horses. After 32 wonderful years with my best friend “Missy”, I have had to acquire some new 4-legged friends “Tug”, “Tess” & “Bucky”.

I have had the privilege to show at a nationally competitive level and this has helped me grow enormously on a personal level.

If there is a way our practice can serve you better, or you have a comment you would like to share with me, I welcome your feedback at: cindy@sandroadanimals.com
