Community Service Programs
The doctors and staff at the Sand Road Animal Hospital recognize our
ability to grow and improve has been a direct result of the overwhelming
support we have received from the community. We feel it is important
to give a percentage of our resources back to the community. Some of
the ways we achieve this is through shelter work, adoptions of pets,
public education, and student internship programs.
Our in house adoption program has allowed us to place over 100
cats and several dogs each year. While we are not a shelter and
cannot take in needy pets, we
do reserve a percentage of our resources to care for pets that come to us through
unfortunate circumstances such as; the death of their owner, abandoned pets,
or injured pets brought to us by "Good Samaritans". We also try to
assist the local shelters in the placing of homeless pets. Pet adoptions bring
staff together for happy endings and new beginnings for many needy animals. We
are grateful to all our clients who have opened their hearts and homes through
the years to support this worthy mission of pet adoptions.
We work closely with several high schools and community colleges in providing
student externship programs. Investing in future generations of healthcare providers
is an important part of our outreach program. The students have enriched our
lives more than we will ever have enriched theirs. Learning from each other allows
everyone to grow and change in preparation for the future.
